| on her 7th birthday |
On her 7th birthday we really were planning on going big, since we felt bad that we weren't able to give her a big birthday celebration on her first. Although I was already working at CEVI by then, but we were really broke at that time (until now actually), Papay has just started working then and I was payday to payday so we really can't afford a big celebration. We just had a simple dinner with the family and the next day we had a simple kiddie snack party with the kids from the neighborhood.
Just as simple as that actually. From the plan of going big to this but nonetheless, the important thing is that the birthday celebrant was happy although she was asking for a birthday trip that we usually do for her birthday but time and working schedule of Papay didn't go with it.
I just would like to note here some of the things about you that we want to remember when you grow old.
Mitch @7:
- you nags about Mamay's constant travels
- you are good in english
- you can write short stories complete with plot
- you finished 1st grade as 2nd honor
- you were part of the pupils who represented school for sabayang basa in City Central
- you are fond of Yang2 so much (gigil level)
- you said your best friends are King2 and Tang2 since ate Loy left
- your consume paper so much because you use it for drawings instead
- you keep on losing your pencils/pens
- oftentimes, you are bullied by your classmates for various reasons
- you know how to handle mean classmates with swag
Just in case my memory wont be that sharp anymore.
So here's the actual story that I want to share. Last night, when I arrived home, Mitch immediately told me her big news. She said her teacher have chosen her to represent the school to do the "Tula". The contest she said is to be held on Monday at City Central School. I was at first hesitant because she seems to be timid but the fact that her teacher trusted her to do that I should be proud right. Well, I an actually proud but being the anxious that I am, I am worried that she'll get super shy during the competition but I can see that she's taking the challenge head on so might as well support her. We immediately practiced the piece and tried to memorize it. The funny thing though is that she is super excited to the point that she is already thinking about what to wear. She asked me to buy her new shoes and that how her hair should be done. I am super proud of her and I am supporting her all the way. I even memorized her piece first so that I can coach her better.
Earlier this week also, she was sharing to me how her teacher mispronounced simple words like "hurry" and "join". I am so proud of her because by now she can already pronounce words correctly. She isn't waiver even if her teacher and classmates pronounce words differently than she does. She really is firm with what she know is right.
I can really say that at 7, she is showing some potentials. I hope she will not change.
